Here are the events for the
2026 Billinghurst Orchestra Olympics
You have been placed in teams and have a preliminary round within your teams on Tuesday, February 17th. On the day of the Olympics, February 20th, each team will have one person competing in each event and one “judge” who will be monitoring a student from another team.
EVENT #1 – FASTEST PLAYING
Beginning -D MAJOR SCALE – 3 times
Intermediate, Advanced, Concert – Perpetual Motion
EVENT #2 – LONGEST NOTE
Down bow – must make a sound the entire time.
EVENT #3 – BEST POSTURE
Bow position, left hand position and head/instrument position
Beginning – Mary Had a Little Lamb
Intermediate, Advanced, Concert – Perpetual Motion
EVENT #4 – SPIDERS & CRABS RACE
3 Spiders and Crabs – No cheating and if you drop your bow, you have to start over.
EVENT #5 – NOTE NAME CHALLENGE
Speed note naming. If you miss a note, it adds 5 seconds onto your total time.
EVENT #6 – MAKE UP YOUR MIND – ALTERNATING ARCO AND PIZZICATO
Beginning – D Scale
Intermediate, Advanced, Concert – Perpetual Motion
EVENT #7 – LOUDEST NOTE
Open D – 5 bows to make that loudest note without a crunch
EVENT #8 – FIERCE FOCUS
Competitor plays while a student from another team tries to break the competitor’s focus.
