Beginning Orchestra Final Assessments 3rd Quarter
STRING THEORY
THIRD QUARTER CONCERT – March 12, 13, 14
For your concert grade in the 3rd quarter, you are going to play for the class. This grade is 200 points. You can choose to play:
You may choose one of the following songs:
French Folk Song
Ode to Joy
You will have time in class to practice, but you should get together with the other students in your group outside of class time to make sure you are really ready.
You may volunteer to go on the first or second day. If you haven’t played by the third day (March 14), you will be required to play that day for this grade.
You will be graded on:
STRING THEORY
- String Theory needs to be turned in between now and the end of the quarter. All pages need to be finished for the 500 points.
- Note Reading test from String Theory. 50 points of EXTRA CREDIT possible.

- Do you know your music?
- Can you play with other people? (If you are in a group.)
- How well are you playing the song? Rhythm, notes, fingers on the tapes, bowings
- Posture and position
